The Big Scholarships
These scholarships are for low-income, first-generation, or minority students. Many are very selective, so this is one reason why you should work hard on your SAT and ACT test scores and work on adding community service and extracurriculars to try and be competitive for these. These scholarships all have applications that require recommendation letters and essays, so be prepared!
Questbridge National College Match
Full-ride scholarship and university matching program for academic high achieving, low-income students. The eligibility requirements are not strict, but they are steep. You can find more info here.
Gates Scholarship
Full-ride scholarship (covering the whole Cost of Attendance) for students from minority groups.
Eligibility:
Dell Scholarship
Large scholarship: $20,000, a laptop, and textbook credits plus additional services and support once you are named a Dell Scholar. Application opens on November 1, 2018.
Terry Foundation Scholarship
This is a full-ride scholarship given to high achieving students with financial need. It is a partnership between the Terry Foundation and a dozen Texas schools (list may be found here). You must apply through the university’s particular process (navigate this page to each school’s Terry Foundation Scholarship application page).
Coca-Cola Scholars
A large scholarship of $20,000 given to many students
St. David’s Health Care Scholarships
St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship - Pre-med majors at Texas college/university (info here)
Hispanic Scholarship Consortium
Make an account. You can submit one application to apply for all scholarships for which you are eligible. There is a lot of money up for grabs here, so I highly suggest you put your name in the running! Check out more info on eligibility here on their Scholars Program page.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
$500-$5,000, depending on need. You must be of Hispanic Heritage. Emphasis on STEM majors, but not required.

College Greenlight
For help finding scholarships that you are eligible for, College Greenlight is a great resource. The site allows students to create a personalized account, from which they can research colleges and find local and national scholarships to apply for.
Unigo
Good tool for searching for scholarships. You have to create a user profile to see the full details for most of their scholarships, but this process is easy and free. This is a pretty good place to start to find scholarships, although you should still carefully evaluate the scholarships it suggests before applying to them.

- From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
- Pell-eligible
- A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
- In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
